Settlement Worksheet

Track DB pension PV, DBS share, home equity, and other assets side-by-side for 50/50 analysis.

Key CalSTRS Differences from CalPERS

These distinctions affect how Joiners are drafted and valued.

Final Average Salary

CalSTRS uses the average of the highest 3 consecutive years (not the final year), making it more favorable than a single-year snapshot.

Career Factor

2% @ 60 members with 30+ years of service credit earn a 0.2% bonus to their age factor (up to 2.4% total) when retiring before age 63.

DBS Account

The Defined Benefit Supplement is a separate account balance distinct from the formula-based DB pension. It requires a separate Joinder and valuation.

Joinder, not QDRO

CalSTRS calls the domestic relations order a 'Joinder' — terminology matters when drafting orders and communicating with CalSTRS.
